Local Insolvent Companies

Welcome to TSO's Open Up Insolvent Companies mashup. This mashup displays information about companies that are in administration or are in the winding up process on a Google map utilising Ordnance Survey geographic data.

How to search

You can search for companies in administration or in the process of winding up, displayed by local authority and ward. Enter a local authority or postcode into the search text box and choose a time period (the default is from 29th October 2010). If you are not sure of the local authority name, simply type in your town or city and the search box will display possible matches from which you may choose. By choosing a suggestion, the search is carried out automatically. There is no need to press the search button using this method. When searching by postcode, please press the search button.

To change the parameters of your chosen search, you can use the quick drop down to look back to time periods such as yesterday, last week, last month etc. When choosing new from and to time periods using the pop up calendars, press the refresh button next to the calendars.

What do you see

Each notice displayed represents one or more companies with a principal trading address or registered address in the selected local authority area which has appeared in the insolvency pages of the London Gazette. Find out more about the exact meaning of the notice from the Insolvency Service's glossary.

The charting tool at the bottom of the page provides a timeline for each local authority area. The notice statistics tab displays notices by ward area.

Within the map, notices at ward level can be summarised into a pie chart, which is available by clicking on the ward boundary area.

The London Gazette data is provided by TSO's OpenUp platform which harvests new information daily from the London Gazette website, deposits it into the OpenUp platform's RDF store where it resides together with information from Ordnance Survey and makes it available to be retrieved by this and other applications.

This application requires IE8 or Firefox 3.6 (or better) browsers. Please forward a link to this demo to anyone who would find it useful. If you have any suggestions for improvement or other ideas please let us know at openup@tso.co.uk

You can search by either the District/Borough name or the full UK postcode.

For example: The City of Norwich or NR3 1PD, etc.
